You can use a diabetes control diet for once you have already developed the disease, but did you know that you can go on a pre diabetes diet which is going to help prevent you from developing the disease in the first place?

If you know that diabetes is a condition that runs in your family, then you know that you are much more likely to develop the disease as well.

Now if you want to go on a pre diabetes diet which would be a very smart move especially if there are quite a few people that you know in your family who already have diabetes themselves, there are a few things that you are going to want to keep in mind when it comes to creating your pre diabetes diet.

What is Pre Diabetes?

Pre diabetes is basically a condition that doctors consider when people have higher than normal blood sugar levels so when they are pretty much on their way to having diabetes but not yet. This is why getting on a diabetes diet plan is so important, and especially pre diabetes diet is going to be so important to you here.

You need to know that for this diet you are going to have to set goals for fat and calorie consumption which means that you figure out what you weigh and then work with this to figure out how many calories a day you should be consuming.

If you weigh between 120 and 170 pounds you need to be eating 33 grams of fat and 1,200 calories a day and if you weigh between 175 and 215 pounds you need to be consuming between 42 grams of fat and 1,500 calories per day.

Now if you weigh between 220 and 245 pounds you need to consumer between 50 diabetesgrams of fat and 1,800 calories a day and for people who weigh between 250 pounds or more then you need to be consuming between 55 grams of fat and 2,000 calories per day.

Remember that there are certain foods that you are going to want to make sure that you are eating on your pre diabetes diet.

  • Legumes for instance are a great source of protein and are important to include in your diet if you want to avoid getting diabetes.
  • Fresh fruits are also very important to include in your diet just make sure that you eat them regularly but not too often because they will increase your blood sugar levels.
